Life is a gift from God
Life is an enormous gift and privilege that every human being has received from God. But what is life? Life is not just the period of time between birth and death. It is not just breathing, eating, drinking and moving. We should never confuse life with existence, because life is much more than just existing. Jesus Christ has said that He has come so that people may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). If people had life, He would not come to teach and show them what life really is, and then to die on the cross for them, in order to give them life.
Jesus Christ has said that man’s life does not consist of his possessions (Luke 12:15). The true life does not depend on money or possessions, it depends on the living God and the relationship that a person has with Him. If you have more possessions that does not mean you will have more life.
God, the Creator of the universe is the Author of life and He really knows what life is. God is the source of life; therefore, life is what is flowing from Him. Life is experiencing God and His Son, Jesus Christ (John 17:3). As a branch needs to be connected to the vine in order to experience life and not dry up and die, so also a human being needs to be connected to God to experience life.
Knowing God personally and being in real connection with Him and fellowshipping with Him, that is what life is all about. You need to know that only in God can be found all true happiness, love, joy, peace, real pleasure and satisfaction.
You cannot know what life is, until you genuinely experience it. The Bible declares the following about Jesus who is the true life: “And the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us. What we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, that you also may have fellowship with us; and indeed, our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:2-3).
If you want to have life, you need to enter into fellowship with God who is the source of all life, and that can happen only if you accept His Son, Jesus Christ by faith. Jesus has said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). If you want to receive the true life, you must believe in Jesus, and you need to repent from all the sins and wrong that you have done, and cry out to God with a sincere heart to forgive you and give you life. His life is not a temporary life, but an eternal one.
If you choose to believe in Jesus, you will have a true life, and that life will never end!
