In John 1:1-4, we read, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the God, and the Word was God; 2 This One was in the beginning with the God. 3 All things through Him came into being, and without Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” (Literal translation)

In this passage the term “The Word” refers to God’s Son, Who was in the beginning (before all creation) with God, and Who was by nature God, and through Him the living God created all things that exist, and without Him nothing was created. The life was and is in Him.

In Hebrews 1:2-3, we read, “In these last days He (God) spoke to us by Son, Whom He appointed Heir of all things, through Whom also He made the ages; Who being the brightness of the glory, and the exact representation of His being, bearing also all the things by the saying of His power, through Himself having done a cleansing of our sins, sat down at the right hand of the greatness in high places.” (Literal translation)

Here we see again that God through His Son created the ages. The Son of God is the brightness of God’s glory, and He is the exact representation of God’s being or substance. God’s Son bears or upholds all things (the entire creation) by the saying (or word) of His power.

In 1 Corinthians 8:6, we read, “Yet for us there isone God, the Father, from Whom arethe all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through Whom areall the things, and we exist through Him.” (Literal translation)

Here we see again that all the things are through the Lord, Jesus Christ, and we exist through Him; and we know that He is God’s Son.

In Colossians 1:15-17, we read, “Who (God’s Son, v. 13) is the image of the invisible God, First-born of all creation, because by Him were all the things created, those in the heavens, and those on the earth, those visible, and those invisible, whether thrones, whether lordships, whether rulers, whether authorities; all things through Him, and for Him, have been created, and He Himself is before all, and all the things by Him have been held together. (Literal translation)

God’s Son is the image or the representation of the invisible God, and is in the position of the First born of all creation, because by Him God created all things. It is also very important to consider that all the things are held together by Him, as we read also in Hebrews 1:3.

In John 1:14 we read, “And the Word became flesh, and did tabernacle among us, and we contemplated His glory, glory as of an only begotten of Father, full of grace and truth.”

So the Word, Which was with the true God (the Father) and was God by nature, is the same Person Who became a human being and dwelt among humans in order to show them the Father and save them from their sins by dying on the cross for them.
